Tanka was a favorite of Butch. He kept him company while he worked around the property.
Tanka passed away December 1, 2006, close to his 13th birthday
We dearly miss him.
"Tatanka" means buffalo in Native American Lakota. Tanka was to be my show and performance dog but an unfortunate accident left him without show or working abilities. He was our icon here at SpiritHawk and a much beloved pet.

Tezi also left us October of 2007. We miss her so much.
"Tezi" means yellow wind in Native American. She was a wonderful performance whirl wind. She gained all her titles with ease and grace and always with a smile on her face. Tezi also had two legs toward her Junior Hunt title. She excelled in a kind and willing temperament and she to passed that down to all her babies. She has champion get and many with working titles.
Tanka and Tezi together again
She was a beautiful girl to show. She is a full sister to Ch. Spirithawk's Takotah which we showed together as a sister and brother team. Both did extremely well and were a joy to be around. Summer is also the mother to our Ch. Summerwood Jacy O'Spirithawk and our Summerwood Pogonip Spirithawk. She did an outstanding job in the whelping box as well.

Livingways Tehya O'SpiritHawk
"Tehya" means precious in Native American. Although she is so precious, she is also full of the dickens. 2016 brought some sadness to all that loved Teyha. An end of an era when she left us. She loved the grandkids of the Taylors and would walk from her home, up the hill, to the grandkids place to visit often. She lived a long full life but it is never enough for all who love and miss her. The stars are shinning a bit brighter.

I remember the day our sweet Tola came into this world, alone, a singleton puppy, and I will never forget the day she left, in my arms, not alone, but with the ones she loved surrounding her in her resting place in front of our arm chair. I know she is waiting at heaven’s gate for us with her ball or toy in her mouth and a non stop tail wag. Mahtola means “Little Bear Cub” in Native American and she was that. A darling teddy bear face, fat little body and a wonderful huggable coat. She was a delight from the very beginning. Full of play and mischief. She never complained and I never even heard a bark from her the entire 12 years of her life. She was our greeter, our labrador ambassador with a tail wag, a toy in her mouth, she was there at visitors car doors to say, “welcome” to our home.
Tola was a producer of champions and lovely companions. She passed on her wonderful temperament and happy ways. We will love her forever and miss her each day. See you again sweet girl.
We were so sad to say “Good-Bye to our beloved Tokie. He was the epitome of a gentle and kind labrador and friend. Takotah means “Friend to All” and he was. He went to school with me and helped teach my first graders how to read. He would lie there and listen contently and patiently as the school child would read and sometimes have difficulty with a word, but Toke would not criticize them, thus encouraging the children to read more. Kids looked forward to him coming to class and he was even featured in our School Annual. He will be missed by all children and will be remembered in their minds as they look back to their childhood school days.
Until we meet again Ol’ Toke. You will always be my best friend, forever!
Love, Love, Love, You. You are together again with your beautiful siblings, mother and Tola, Jacy and all. What a great time you must be having.

It is strangely quiet here at Spirithawk today. Our sentry and guardian of the ranch is gone. Ch. Belle's Moonriver (Ch. Ghoststones Louie Downtown X Belle's Moonbeam) passed yesterday just days short of his 13th birthday. I first saw River as a little 7 week old pup when I went to a local breeder to train for field work. He was their pick. I fell in love with his short little body, beautiful coat, adorable expression, beautiful head, and he was such a spunky pup. I wanted to buy him then and there, but he wasn't for sale. I dreamed of that puppy for months and each time I went for training, I all but begged the breeders to let me buy him. He was always in a 6x12 kennel and jumped straight up and down each time I visited. How I wanted that boy. When he was about 5 months old, the breeder called and asked if I still wanted him. Well, she barely got the words out and I was in the car on my way to pick that little guy up and bring him home. He didn't know what to do with 4 acres to run and play on or what to make of sleeping on our bed, but he got the hang of it real soon. River became a champion early with his "look at me" style of showing. He got 2 legs on his Junior Hunt title, until I decided it wasn't for me. He was a natural and could have gotten his title easily. River lived a great life and gave us years of devotion, love and beautiful and loving pups. When he took his last breaths and the life was slipping away, the most brightest of lightning strikes and ear deafening roll of thunder was right over our heads. I know River left us riding on that lightning bolt of lightning and headed right toward that Rainbow in the sky. Until we meet again River Man...
He produced some wonderful offspring with great working abilities, with one Master Hunter offspring.

Schoenfield’s Magena At Sprithawk
“Jena”
DOB 8/1/2009 ~ 9/22/2014
Jena has an autoimmune disease which made her life short. This was my fantastic, beautiful, energetic, intelligent girl. She was my constant companion. She had what was to be her last vaccine at a year of age but it proved to be one vaccine too many. She had a terrible reaction which left her with huge lesions all over her body. We had to put her on mega steroids to combat the disease but the cure was killing her. She lived into her 5 th year and passed Sept. 22, 2014. We miss her dearly as she was so much a part of our life. This is why I do not give vaccines after the puppy shots and only titer. Please educate yourself on OVER VACCINATING your dog.

Pogo received a 3 point major after taking the BOB win at the 2007 Cal Palace benched
show in San Francisco, Ca. under judge Cindy Vogels
Summerwood Pogonip O'Spirithawk
Pogo was a true showgirl in the ring. Tail wagging and a big smile on her face. She is shown getting her major and Best Of Breed at the Cow Palace dog show and went on to many other impressive wins. She only needed a major to get to her championship but motherhood called and she went on to being one of the best producers for Spirithawk. We miss her so much. So much love and boundless energy. She gave us champions and some of the best working dogs ever. Poni and Bay are just a couple of them. Her temperament was extraordinary, as she was kind, sweet, loyal and with just a little impishness combined. She was the “perfect” dog. She passed at the age of 12 years young .
Spirithawk’s Tiponi Too
Poni (2010 ~ 2020)
My Best Boy Ever!! Poni was my sweet, not so gentle, he would shoot in the door as soon as it opened, almost knocking us down and killing us with is over exuberant strong hard tail. But he was a waggy tail, super friendly, happy boy, even through his rough times. I so miss him and loved him so. He is joyfully waiting at heaven’s gate for us and I am sure he will shoot through that gate as well. Run fast Run strong and enjoy your time in heaven baby boy.
Bay was an absolute beauty with lots of drive and trainability. He was a love and so much fun to show. He so reminded me of our River, I often called him by that name, both vocal, eager, fun loving and both loved puppies. We miss our old guys.
